Why We Choose Native Indian Bees ?

Why We Choose Native Indian Bees Over Fast Profits
A note from a 5th-generation beekeeper on why true quality cannot be rushed.
I am a fifth-generation beekeeper. The instincts, patience, and techniques I practice every morning were handed down directly to me by my father and grandfather. Along with a close-knit circle of smallholder farming families in the Western Ghats, we keep bees not as an aggressive industrial business, but as a generational way of life.
We work exclusively with native Indian honeybees (Apis cerana indica and Apis cerana karinjodiansis). We deliberately turn down the commercial European bees (Apis mellifera) that dominate the modern honey industry.
Here is why that single decision guarantees what arrives in your kitchen is completely pure:
Commercial Yields vs. Authentic Purity Large-scale commercial brands favor European bees for a single reason: raw volume. However, because European bees are not native to our tropical climate, maintaining them requires intense intervention. They are routinely sustained on artificial sugar syrup feeds, treated with preventative antibiotics, and transported across state borders in noisy trucks to chase floral blooms.
We refuse to turn nature into an assembly line.
- Zero Antibiotics or Sugar Syrup: Native Indian bees evolved alongside our local flora. They are naturally resilient, self-sufficient, and forage strictly on wild mountain blossoms and spice canopies—never refined sugar feeds.
- Stationary, Stress-Free Apiaries: Our hives stay planted in the hills of the Western Ghats. Our bees experience natural seasons, monsoons, and droughts exactly as wild colonies do.
- Active Ecosystem Conservation: Every jar directly protects our indigenous pollinators from being displaced by factory-farmed imports, keeping the Western Ghats ecologically balanced.
The Honey We Feed Our Own Children Our handcrafted bee boxes are designed simply as safe, natural shelters. We never harvest more than what the colony can comfortably spare, and we never manipulate nature to hit sales targets.
We started keeping these hives because we wanted real, unadulterated honey for our own dining tables and our own children. What you receive in an Indianbees bottle is simply our surplus harvest—shared directly with families who value genuine purity over mass production.
